Passenger Statistics

The New Year started off exactly as the old year ended with significant growth in passenger numbers. January 2008 set another record as the busiest month ever at nearly 100,000 passengers. (It was only August of 2007 that we first exceeded 90,000 passengers in a month). The growth rate versus last January is 9.1%. Passenger volumes were up 9.1% in February with a total of 96,902 passengers using scheduled air service either to or from Saskatoon. On a daily basis, this was the busiest month ever for air travel at the Saskatoon Airport thanks in part to the very strong charter program. The rate of growth in air travel at the Saskatoon Airport during the month of March was unprecedented. The March 2008 traffic was 19% higher than March of 2007. With the extension of a stronger than normal charter program and with the Easter break coming earlier than usual, air travel in Saskatoon exceeded 96,000 for the third month in a row. While the winter charter program contributed to the growth, all travel sectors were up, including a March record for our direct trans-border travel.
