The Blairmore Ring stood in Rotary Park from 1965-2001, as a tribute to the people who built the first potash mines in Saskatoon. In 2002, The Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport provided a new home for the Blairmore Ring located on the east side of the terminal building with an interpretive area inside the terminal to explain the history of Saskatchewan's potash industry and of the Ring.
The Blairmore Ring is an important part of the engineering triumph that allowed miners to reach Saskatchewan's rich potash deposits in the 1960's. The display provides visitors with the opportunity to appreciate its size and the scale of potash mining in Saskatchewan. The Blairmore Ring, which stands five meters in diameter and weighs more than 28 tonnes, helped to unlock the potential of Saskatchewan's potash industry. After early attempts to reach the deposits were flooded out by an underground layer of water and sand called the Blairmore Foundation, these cast-iron rings were installed to create a water-tight shaft that allowed miners to safely reach the deposits.
The Blairmore Ring Display and Interpretive Center reflects the role of the Saskatoon Airport Authority connecting with the economic developments and community interests of Saskatoon.

Child Friendly Saskatoon is an organization of which the Saskatoon Airport is a founding member that fosters and promotes a child-friendly community where children are safe, secure, honored, nurtured and valued. As well, it creates responsible citizens by teaching children to take a deeper ownership of their community through active decision-making and service-based training.
A Child Friendly Saskatoon review of the AIrport Facilities was arranged by the organization and undertaken by children. The children provided their perspective on opportunities for Saskatoon Airport facility enhancements to provide a welcoming atmosphere for children.
Currently we have two children's play areas within the terminal building, consisting of aviation theme play equipment for toddlers. One station is located in the public area, with the other station located post security in the second floor holdroom.
The Ruckers Express Games room is located across from Tim Horton's near the attractions display area of the terminal building. Ruckers Games Room is open the same time as the terminal building hours offering a variety of games for your entertainment.
